Resume: An american soldier imprisoned in postwar Japan enters the dark world of the yakuza, adopting their way of life in repayment for his freedom.
I was waiting to watch it during weeks, I was having doubts about if could be good or not, very undecisive but at the end I watched it and of course, it wasn’t as I expected at all, I had a good taste after watch it. This movie shows completely the traditions of yakuza family, whitch very intriguing, how they follow their own rules, how they protect each other as a family, how they pay for their mistakes and how they introduce another member in the group. I was curious to see how the main character (Jared Leto actor) don’t express any kind of feeling when he kills someone, living in the completely cold way, no matter even if he has to sleep in the floor, thing he’s accostumed to do.
Nick is american and he had to sold his soul to the yakuza family to pay the price of his freedom, thing that remains the viewers captive in the story. They treat the killings in a very open ways, with lot of blood and showing the complete violence this group use to deal with their issues. They’re always thinking in the best interest for the family, they’re brothers until they die, they’re united forgeting other type of interactions outside of their group. Betrayals are very common, also they show how the different groups who exists could confront each other and how they deal with it.
This movie shows how you can to have feelings but hide them as deep as you can to don’t show your worst weakneses, always keep yourself strong no matter the issue and pay your mistakes as they recure. The compromise with the family is key, the courage, how to confront personal problems, even saying the truth wathever happens to your brothers. You can to be part of it but you can’t go away once you accept that they’re your family and you gonna kill for them. It’s a coldest view of how the human being could become, how we can to do whatever we have in our hands to be free and be confortable with a family that we know gonna protect us until the world ends. If we think about it, we have the same with our friends, people we know, family… we would do whatever to protect them and we’re be able to sacrifice ourselves for them.
I really like the movie personally, I love to see another perspectives and explore new fields helping me with my studies, even with the psychologist used for the characters. You lie to protect yourself but never people who you consider your family, what would you be able to do for them? It’s a good question you can to ask yourself when the movie ends…

Estuve esperando para verla durante semanas con dudas de si sería buena o no, indecisa, pero al final la vi y no fue para nada lo que esperaba. Esta película muestra muy bien las tradiciones de los yakuza, lo cual, intriga bastante, cómo son capaces de seguir sus propias reglas, cómo se protegen mutuamente, cómo pagan por sus errores o cómo introducen a otro nuevo miembro en la familia. Me pareció curioso que el protagonista (Jared Leto) no mostrara ningún tipo de sentimiento al matar a alguien, viviendo en la más fría manera posible, incluso, estando acostumbrado a dormir en el suelo, justo como solía hacer cuando estaba encerrado en prisión.
Nick es americano y tuvo que vender su alma para pagar su libertad a los yakuza, lo cual, es un buen contexto para mantener a los espectadores pegados a la historia. Muestran la matanza de formas muy abiertas, con mucha sangre y cómo el grupo maneja todos sus problemas con violencia. Ellos siempre piensan en los mejores intereses para la familia, son hermanos hasta la muerte, están unidos olvidando cualquier otro tipo de interacción fuera del grupo. Las traiciones también son muy comunes, mostrando cómo los diferentes grupos se enfrentan mutuamente y resuelven sus problemas.
Esta película muestra cómo se pueden tener sentimientos y cómo esconderlos de la forma más profunda posible para no mostrar tus peores debilidades, siempre manteniéndote fuerno sin importar la situación y pagar tus errores según se requiera. El compromiso con la familia es la clave, su corage, cómo afrontar problemas personales, incluso, diciendo la verdad siempre a tus hermanos aunque sea la peor decisión, Puedes ser parte de ello, aceptar que eres parte de la familia y vas a matar por ellos. Es una de las formas más frías que se puede ver hasta dónde puede llegar el ser humano, cómo somos capaces de hacer cualquier cosa para ser libres y estar cómodos con la idea de que nuestra familia va a protegernos hasta que el mundo termine. Si nos paramos un momento a pensarlo, nosotros haríamos lo que fuera por nuestros amigos, familia, etc. haríamos lo que fuera por protegerlos y seríamos capaces de sacrificar cualquier cosa.
Personalmente, me gustó bastante la película, me agrada encontrarme con otras perspectivas y otros campos de estudio, más específicamente la psicología usada en los personajes. Mientes para protegerte a ti mismo pero nunca lo harías con las personas que consideras tu familia, ¿qué serías capaz de hacer por ellos? Es una buena pregunta que podrías responder cuando la película termine…
