Desde que compré el libro, tuve curiosidad sobre lo que escondía entre sus páginas. No he encontrado en sí ningún fallo en la narrativa, en sus expresiones o en el contexto de los diálogos, me ha encantado cómo ha formado a los personajes y ha ido introduciéndolos de forma natural, dejándote ver la relación que había entre ellos. Me sorprendió cómo un tema que se puede considerar de ficción y un tanto sobrenatural, este autor lo haya descrito con esa soltura, fluidez, sencillez y sin ánimo de complicarse, los hechos suceden unos tras otros sin dificultad, con este libro hizo un gran trabajo, no me extraña que sea un bestseller.
Dean Koontz nos cuenta algunas cosas sobre el pasado de los dos protagonistas y cómo revivir a una persona puede atraer tanto problema. A mí jamás se me hubiera ocurrido una historia tal para escribir un libro pero ha tenido una buena funcionalidad, desde el accidente de coche donde introduce la relación de ambos personajes, su pasado y cómo su matrimonio ha ido en picado tras cinco años desde la muerte de su hijo. La personalidad de ambos, el carácter y sus formas de hacer, al igual que, sus hobbies y anhelos se hacen bien visibles durante el transcurso de la historia, sobre todo, pueden verse en los diálogos.
Se empiezan a conectar los puntos muy bien entre el «villano» y este matrimonio que acaba de rehacer sus vidas tras un accidente que casi mata a Hatch, cómo cambia de ambientación en cuanto ve a través de los ojos de un psicópata que tan solo quiere engrandecer su colección de muertes para poder volver al infierno. Las circunstancias no transcurren muy rápido ni muy lento, van a paso ligero y sin necesidad de que el lector se pare en detalles sin importancia, sino que, toda la información que te proporciona Dean Koontz es la justa y necesaria para que continúe la historia con ligereza y exactitud.
Me llamó mucho la atención la parte en la que se añade un nuevo miembro de la familia y cómo expresa esa personalidad tan fuerte que, en este caso, la joven tiene, cómo se auto protege de ser rechazada de nuevo y cómo va acoplándose a su nueva familia. Las partes de acción que vienen pasando hacia el final, están muy bien relatadas, no te dejan con necesidad de más ni tampoco con partes que no vienen al caso, sino que, todo transcurre correctamente. Cabe añadir que me gustó mucho cómo terminó la historia porque la cerró de una forma perfecta y redonda, de forma que el lector supiese dónde había acabado cada personaje y qué les pasó tras todo lo ocurrido, es un detallazo porque hay escritores que te dejan finales abiertos que no sabes muy bien cómo cogerlos, pero este fue completo.
La psicología del «villano» o demonio, ha sido muy acertada a lo que a un psicópata se refiere, desde su personalidad hasta sus acciones, poniendo los detalles donde se necesitasen y mostrando muy claramente qué quería conseguir con exactitud. Esa forma en la que Dean Koontz relata cómo pasan de un cuerpo a otro está muy bien lograda porque no es algo sencillo de explicar o expresar y, tal como dije antes, él lo hizo de una forma muy natural. Es un libro de más de trescientas páginas que, para nada se te hace pesado y te deja seguirlo muy bien, te intriga y tienes ganas de leer, lo recomiendo al 100%, ¡espero que decidáis leerlo! 🙂

Ever since I bought the book, I’ve been curious about what was hiding between its pages. I have not found in itself any flaw in the narrative, in its expressions or in the context of the dialogues, I loved how the author has shaped the characters and been introducing them naturally, letting you see the relationship between them. I was surprised how a subject that can be considered fiction and somewhat supernatural, this author has described it with that ease, fluidity, simplicity and without the purpose of complicating the story, the facts happen one after the other without difficulty, with this book he did a great job, no wonder it is a bestseller.
Dean Koontz tells us a few things about the two protagonists’ past and how reviving a person can attract so much trouble. I would never have come up with such a story to write a book but it has had good functionality, since the car accident where he introduces the relationship of both characters, their past and how their marriage has plummeted after five years since the death of their son. The personality of both, the character and their ways of doing, as well as their hobbies and longings become well visible during the course of the story, above all, can be seen in dialogues.
The points begin to connect very well between the «villain» and this marriage that has just remakeed their lives after an accident that almost killed Hatch, how he changes his setting as soon as he sees through the eyes of a psychopath who just wants to enlarge his collection of deaths so that he can return to hell. The circumstances do not pass very fast or very slow, they go at a light pace and without the need for the reader to stand in details of no importance, all the information provided to you by Dean Koontz is the right one and necessary for the story to continue with lightness and accuracy.
What called my attention was the part where a new family member is added and how he expresses that strong personality that, in this case, comes from the young woman, how she protects herself from being rejected again and how she is snitching her new family. The parts of action that have been going towards the end, are very well related, do not leave you in need of more or with parts that do not come to the case, everything goes correctly. It should be added that I really liked how the story ended because he closed it in a perfect and round way, so that the reader knew where each character had finished on the story and what happened to them after everything that happened, it is a detail because there are writers who leave you with an open endings that you do not know very well how to catch them, but this one was complete.
The psychology of the «villain» or demon, has been very correct as far as a psychopath is concerned, from his personality to his actions, putting the details where they were needed and showing very clearly what he wanted to achieve exactly. That way Dean Koontz relates how they move from one body to another is very well achieved because it is not something simple to explain or express and, as I said before, he did so in a very natural way. It is a book of more than three hundred pages that, at nothing gets heavy and lets you follow it very well, intrigues you and you feel like reading, I recommend it 100%, I hope you decide to read it! 🙂
